Bénestroff an der Mosel: Am 9. März 1991 findet der 28-jährige Schreiner Hervé Even seine Frau Michel tot auf dem Küchenboden. Die junge Frau wurde regelrecht massakriert. 51 Messerstiche, massive Schädelverletzungen, die Kehle durchgeschnitten – die örtliche Polizei ist von diesem Horrorszenario überfordert. Die Kriminalpolizei Metz übernimmt den Fall. Bei den Tatortermittlungen finden sie einen Fingerabdruck – von Hervé Even. Der Schreiner und Ehemann der Leiche wird schnell zum Hauptverdächtigen. Bei den kriminaltechnischen Untersuchungen findet die Polizei einen Fingerabdruck auf der Tatwaffe, der zum großen Teil mit dem von Even übereinstimmt. Diese erste Spur verdichtet sich, als eine Nachbarin aussagt, dass sie am Morgen des Mordtages einen Streit zwischen den Eheleuten gehört und die Stimme Evens erkannt habe. Die Ehe der Evens war nicht so harmonisch, wie es den Anschein hatte. Michcle war eine dominante Frau und Hervé litt unter ihren Launen. Ist der Fall also gelöst?
